Annesley Quilters – Monday June 6th
The Annesley Quilters are meeting Monday, June 6th, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., to make some quilts for Ukrainian families in the area. Everyone is invited to help – no sewing experience required. COVID protocols will still be in effect: ( Masks, vaccines required, distancing). We ask that people bring their own lunch.
Memorial gathering for Velma Spencer
There will be a memorial gathering for Velma on June 18th at her house at 33 Sproule St. It will be drop in from 1 -3 and very informal. Let anyone who knew Velma know that they are welcome.
Outdoor Service and Picnic – June 19th
The June 19th service will be outdoors at Rotary Park, followed by a picnic! 10:30 a.m. Bring your own lawn chairs and lunch. Beverages and an ice cream treat will be provided. Parking is available on the west side of the park, with some wheelchair accessible sites on the east side closer to the pavilion. Should the weather be unsuitable for an outdoor gathering, we will meet in the Fellowship Hall at Annesley. There will be no live stream that week.
Help Needed
You can play a vital role in Annesley’s future but we need your help! Now that the Board and congregation have accepted the Visioning Team’s Interim Report and recommendations, we must start the work now! Yes, it will be work, but it can be fun and satisfying to see the accomplishments of our work.
A Building Steering Committee comprised of representatives of the Property Committee, Visioning Team and volunteers will oversee the completion of each of the seven tasks identified in the Interim Report:
Task #1- Renovations of the kitchen
Task #2-Address accessibility…particularly the lower level
Task#3-Set a rental fee structure for building /area/room rentals
Task #4 and #5-Marketing and Promotion of the varied rental options
including brochures and website
Task #6- regarding the implications Staffing needs to meet the increased demands of rentals
Task #7-Consultation with a chartered accountant regarding the implications of increasing rental income
Volunteers are also needed to assist with a thorough tidying and clean up of the clutter in the church.
Please carefully and prayerfully consider your role, gifts, skills, knowledge, expertise and time in this grand venture and submit your name to Patti or any member of the Visioning Team and the area(s) that you can offer any assistance. Thank you for your consideration!

Update: donations for health care workers
Thanks to the amazing generosity of this congregation, in a wonderful response for a request for donations, we received funds to send “thank you” lunches to both the staff at Grey Gables and the Markdale hospital. And then happily, we realized we had enough money remaining to give Tim Horton’s gift cards to the nursing and administration staff at the Participation Lodge in Holland Centre. These folks have also worked so hard during the pandemic to keep their residents safe. As well we still have enough donated money to give Tim Horton’s gift cards to the local emergency medical response staff! This means that this Spring approximately 130 local health care workers have received gifts from Annesley acknowledging their dedication and sacrifice in keeping our community safe during this pandemic. The Annesley Gardeners are looking for anyone who would like to meet on Tuesday mornings to work in the Annesley Gardens. No experience necessary, just an interest in plants and working in the outdoors. Call Noreen Brodie at 519-986-3162 for more information.

Emergency Response — Ukraine
On February 24th, the armed conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine erupted, costing precious lives and creating a humanitarian crisis as people flee from the conflict. The U.N. estimates that hundreds of thousands of people, displaced from their homes, are seeking refuge in neighbouring countries. Many have lost friends and loved ones, struggle to meet their basic needs, and face an uncertain future.

COVID-19 Policy November 21st, 2021
The Annesley Board has consulted with members of the congregation, other United churches in the area and around Ontario, contacts with Western Ontario Waterways & Shining Waters Regional Councils, and the Grey Bruce Health Unit to make a decision concerning requirements for COVID-19 vaccinations to attend services and events in the Annesley building. It has been decided that until further notice, we will require verification of full (double) vaccination for anyone 12+ to attend any services and events in the building. Many people advised that they were reluctant to attend unless this policy was adopted. We hope to continue to meet the spiritual needs of anyone who cannot attend, for any reason, through our live stream and recorded services. We recognize the positive and negative impacts this policy will have on various people, and do not want to exclude anyone, especially anyone who needs Pastoral Care. Please advise if Pastoral Care is needed no matter what your vaccination status may be. We will revisit this decision in the spring of 2022, at our Annual Congregational meeting to be held in April 2022.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry is an important part of Annesley’s outreach. Warm and cozy shawls are given to those of the congregation and community who are bereaved or seriously ill. The appropriate yarn must be purchased. If you would like to help, put your donation in an envelope marked Prayer Shawl and your name and send it to the church office. If you know anyone in the community who would benefit from receiving a prayer shawl, please call the office at 519-986-3019.
