Grey County Cares Fundraiser – June 11th
Grey County Cares is doing a fundraiser TOMORROW (Saturday. June 11th) at 7pm at Annesley. They will be having a stage reading of the romantic comedy “Whole Lotto Love” by Kevin Land. It tells the story of Dwight and Lenore, a married couple who have been separated for ten months. When Lenore realizes that the lottery ticket they played a year in advance has won over $30 million, she visits her ex to discuss possible reconciliation, but she is really planning to find the ticket and take off with her new boyfriend. The play was first performed at Theatre on the Grand in Fergus and has since had productions at Theatre Aquarius, various community theatres across Canada, as well as a professional production in the U.K. Tickets are $15 and include a Grey County Cares pin. All proceeds will go to GCC, which is raising money to help Ukrainian newcomers who have come to Grey County, whether permanently or until the conflict overseas is over Support our Ukrainian refugees in Grey County by buying a button for $10 or more – donations go directly to Ukrainian refugees in Grey County. You can play a vital role in Annesley’s future but we need your help! Now that the Board and congregation have accepted the Visioning Team’s Interim Report and recommendations, we must start the work now! Yes, it will be work, but it can be fun and satisfying to see the accomplishments of our work.
A Building Steering Committee comprised of representatives of the Property Committee, Visioning Team and volunteers will oversee the completion of each of the seven tasks identified in the Interim Report:
Task #1- Renovations of the kitchen
Task #2-Address accessibility…particularly the lower level
Task#3-Set a rental fee structure for building /area/room rentals
Task #4 and #5-Marketing and Promotion of the varied rental options
including brochures and website
Task #6- regarding the implications Staffing needs to meet the increased demands of rentals
Task #7-Consultation with a chartered accountant regarding the implications of increasing rental income
Volunteers are also needed to assist with a thorough tidying and clean up of the clutter in the church.
Please carefully and prayerfully consider your role, gifts, skills, knowledge, expertise and time in this grand venture and submit your name to Patti or any member of the Visioning Team and the area(s) that you can offer any assistance. Thank you for your consideration!

Seven Thousand Ways to Listen – Mark Nepo Having experienced hearing loss, Nep affirms that listening is one of the most mysterious and challenging art forms. “Whatever difficulty you face, there are time-tried ways you can listen your way through. Listening is the doorway to everything that matters.” This remarkable guide unpacks the many ways we are called to redefine ourselves and to name what is meaningful as we face challenges.
Update: donations for health care workers
Thanks to the amazing generosity of this congregation, in a wonderful response for a request for donations, we received funds to send “thank you” lunches to both the staff at Grey Gables and the Markdale hospital. And then happily, we realized we had enough money remaining to give Tim Horton’s gift cards to the nursing and administration staff at the Participation Lodge in Holland Centre. These folks have also worked so hard during the pandemic to keep their residents safe. As well we still have enough donated money to give Tim Horton’s gift cards to the local emergency medical response staff! This means that this Spring approximately 130 local health care workers have received gifts from Annesley acknowledging their dedication and sacrifice in keeping our community safe during this pandemic. Again, thank you so much Annesley folks for donating to this worthwhile project. Members of the Centering Prayer group

Emergency Response — Ukraine
On February 24th, the armed conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine erupted, costing precious lives and creating a humanitarian crisis as people flee from the conflict. The U.N. estimates that hundreds of thousands of people, displaced from their homes, are seeking refuge in neighbouring countries. Many have lost friends and loved ones, struggle to meet their basic needs, and face an uncertain future.
You can help. Right now, people urgently need shelter, clean water, food, and medical attention.
Please show your support by making a gift today:
-Online https://united-church.ca/social-action/act-now/conflict-ukraine via our secure donation page.
-Phone 416-231-5931 or toll-free 1-800-268-3781 ext. 2738 and use your Visa or MasterCard.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry is an important part of Annesley’s outreach. Warm and cozy shawls are given to those of the congregation and community who are bereaved or seriously ill. The appropriate yarn must be purchased. If you would like to help, put your donation in an envelope marked Prayer Shawl and your name and send it to the church office. If you know anyone in the community who would benefit from receiving a prayer shawl, please call the office at 519-986-3019.
