The Southeast Grey Community Health Centre is in need of reusable bags to help the clients of the Community Pantry. The bags are washed by SEGHC, so even used bags are appreciated. They are also looking for winter clothing (in good condition):coats, jackets, mittens, gloves, hats, scarves and boots, to help the less fortunate in our community. The bags and the clothing can be dropped off at the Patient Entrance.
Online Auction
Thank you to Diane Lyons, Dale Beare and their helpers who worked many, many hours for the online auction. Final numbers are still to come in, but it raised over $4,000 for Annesley!
Skating Outreach in Markdale
Here’s the deal: The Markdale Recreation Committee wishes to fund more free family skating time at the arena. Currently, Grey Highlands funds one (1) free skate per month. The cost for rental is $200.00 for 2 hours of skating. (The cost seems to vary). Annesley church wishes, and needs, to have more of a presence in the community to encourage families to join our church family. Supporting the skating endeavour by donating to the outreach process works for us, the committee, and the families in our community. Ideally, supporting the skating once a month for the five (5) winter months would be an honest, true, outreach programme. The donations would be handled through our church office and records and then channelled to the recreation committee. Think about it. This is your opportunity to release the inner ice dance star that lives within you, swirls and leaps that you know you can execute! Forget about your knee and hip replacements …live your dreams! We can do it!
Flower Power
The mornings are darker, the evenings darken earlier each day… Summer and even Fall are beginning to fade. All of that means…we need more colour in the church and that means…flowers!!! Before we know it, Poinsettias will be gracing our sanctuary space, BUT…LET THE GAMES BEGIN! Start counting fingers and toes so you will be ready to count Christmas balls in the vase! Coming soon, the counting quiz will show up in the Narthex! There will be prizes, there will be challenge, and there will be pre-Christmas fun. With you generosity, we will build a flower fund to carry us through the dreary winter into glorious spring. It won’t be as easy to count this time, so be ready!
New to the Library: God: The Bestseller
What an awesome title for the newest book in the library. It is an awesome story. God: the bestseller is the story of Eugene Exman, a man who published the works of the controversial preacher Harry Emerson Fosdick, the Catholic radical Dorothy Day, the Civil Rights pioneer Howard Thurman, and two Nobel laureates: Albert Schweitzer and Martin Luther King. He also published the Alcoholic Anonymous classic known as The Bible. Ahead of his time in leading hungry readers through books on a spiritual exploration, he was a man who from a young age questioned and explored his own limits of spiritual understanding. Check it out in the library, which sits now at the back wall of Fellowship Hall. The library looks good there. Plenty of light and visible space to explore some of the best selections of church history, prayerful guides and stimulating historians.
