Flowers can be delivered to the church any time the week before Easter, and you are welcome to take them home afterward. Silk arrangements are also welcome, as some people are sensitive to the scent of lilies.

Pi Day, also known as P.I.E. Day,

The math enthusiasts in our congregation will know that March 14th marks Pi Day, an annual celebration of the mathematical symbol pi (π). March 14 was selected because the numerical date (3.14) represents the first 3 digits of the mathematical symbol pi (π).                                                                               In the United Church, P.I.E. day is also National Affirming Day. P.I.E. is not only dessert – it is also an acronym that stands for Public, Intentional and Explicit. Moderator Carmen Landsdowne encourages United Church communities to have conversations, dream big and commit to taking a faithful step in the journey to embody the expansive love of God for Two Spirit or LGBTQIA+ people.                   Annesley’s Affirming Ministry Team is marking the occasion, too. You are invited to join us in the Fellowship Hall after church service on Sunday, March 19th to listen to a 20 minute CBC radio Tapestry presentation by Julian Munro, United Church member, divinity student at Emmanuel College, and drag clown known as King Julez. Julian shares their journey from childhood in a loving church community to the present time and talks about their spiritual journey as life unfolds as a non–binary trans person. There will be mini-pies (aka tarts!) and conversation afterwards.

Flower Fund

The leprechauns are leaping, the Colleens are dancing, and the pancakes are flipping. It’s that mystical, magic time! The wearing of the green!    The strange “wee folk” are searching for the special pot at the end of the rainbow, but alas….the pot of gold is empty!                                                                                        It is time to surprise the leprechauns and fill the pot with the magic of our donations and be ready for the glorious arrival of Easter.   Fool the searchers and fill the pot. It has been said that we are all a wee bit Irish!

From the Search Team

The Search Team is looking for people to share what they love about Annesley on video or audio clip! If you are willing to give a quick (or long!) testimonial, we want to hear from you. We will be compiling them with other great things happening in and around Annesley for our NEW Living Faith Story. This would be shared with potential candidates to show what Annesley is all about! Email or call the church office to get on the list!

From the Affirming Ministry Team

We are continuing to explore the possibility of Annesley becoming an Affirming Ministry church. Do you have questions or comments you would like to make? We are keen to hear from you as we discern this path. There is a now a Comments and Questions box in the Narthex. Please feel free to write anonymously, but if you would like to speak to someone on the team or attend one of our team meetings with your feedback, please add your name and contact information. Or of course just speak to us in person! We really need and value your input. Thanks!      As well, if you would like additional information about the affirming journey there are copies of an excellent resource booklet titled “Open Hearts” available in the church library.                Jane Currah, Marlene Evans, Jill Lawford, John Lewis, Ralph Shilton, Heather Spry, Vicki Stevens, Mark Waugh

When Things Fall Apart – Heart Advice for Difficult Times

by Pema Chödrön.     Life is a good teacher and a good friend . Things are always in transition if you can only realize it. Nothing ever sums itself up in the way that we like to dream about. The off-center, in-between state is an ideal situation, a situation in which we don’t get caught and we can open our hearts and minds beyond limit.

Task Teams hard at work

Many exciting things are happening around the building!   Feel free to stroll through to see the progress being made to make the basement rooms inviting, clean and bright, and check out the completed Wesley Room.  The Refresh Team (and helpers) are working hard every day.  Thank them for their efforts when you stop by!  If you have more time these days, your help and vision are always welcome.
